PhD Student Position: Graduate Students Contact Info Email: acskazmi@uga.edu Dissertation Research: Adam’s dissertation is focused on producing migration histories of humans buried in the Roman necropoleis of Dyrrachium (modern Durrës, Albania). He employs multi-stable isotope analysis (lead, strontium, oxygen, and sulfur) and isoscape maps to estimate the most likely birthplace of each individual examined, making it possible to move past the simple dichotomy of local versus non-local. Ultimately, Adam seeks to understand the relationships between migration, health, and cultural change in the context of colonialism, a task which can only be attempted through the synthesis of archaeological, biological, and historical data.
